TUESDAY CLASSES

Super Science and Social Studies for K-3rd Grades – Session I

Enjoy an introduction to various fields of science, social studies and to the EHC!  Get to know our homeschool program by participating in some super cool science and social studies classes.

Session topics may include:

Georgia History

Classes meet on select Tuesdays from 1pm until 3pm.

Upper Elementary Tuesday Labs for 4th-5th Grades
6 Weeks

Calling all 4th and 5th graders!  Now, it’s your turn to visit the EHC Lab!  Explore the various fields of science as you learn the ins and outs of the EHC’s state of the art laboratory!

Session Topics
Simple Machines and Rockets – 1/24 and 1/31
Acid Rain and Georgia Wildlife – 2/21 and 2/28
Native Wildlife of Georgia – 3/21 and 3/28

WEDNESDAY CLASSES

Art Composition and Design for Elementary School for 1st – 5th Grades
6 Weeks

Students will learn the fundamentals of visual composition and basic design principles in this class. The Elements and Principles of Design will be covered, and students will create a variety of art pieces based on what they learn!

Class meets on select Wednesdays from 10am until 12pm.

Lemonade Crime: Exploring the Legal System Through Literature for 3rd – 5th Grades
6 Weeks

In this exciting sequel to the popular book  Lemonade Wars by Jacqueline Davies, students will explore the American legal system as they help Evan Treski search for justice in a case involving missing money.  This book will ignite much discussion on truth, innocence, and guilt.

Impressionism/Post-Impressionism for Elementary School for 1st Through 5th Grades
6 Weeks
In this class, students will study well-known Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists from the 1800s, then create their own masterpieces as inspired by those art movements and artists!

Class meets on select Wednesdays from 10am until 12pm.

Literature in the Garden II for Elementary School for 3rd Through 5th Grades
6 weeks

Writing and plant science go together like peanut butter and jelly! Come and read some excellent literature while expanding your critical thinking skills with hands-on activities.  Story elements, characterization, and grammar meld with scientific observations, processes, conservation, and plant cycles.  Garden-ese and critical analysis have never grown better.

Class meets on select Wednesdays from 1pm until 3pm.

High School Lab – Chemistry Concepts II
6 Weeks for Each Session

Build on the concepts you practiced in Chemistry Concepts I. Students will explore topics such as solution, pH, and polymers with hands-on activities.  This class is an extension of Chemistry Concepts I but completion of that course is not a pre-requisite for this course.

Class meets on select Wednesdays from 1pm until 3pm.
Session 1 -1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15
Session 2 – 3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/12

2 Middle School Lab – Physical Science I – Power Up
6 weeks

Students will get a charge out of this class as they study basic concepts involving electricity and magnetism.  Student will learn by creating class projects involving circuits, switches, fuses, electromagnets, and even a miniature generator.  Each student will create an original project utilizing the components of a simple circuit.

Class meets on select Wednesdays from 9:30am until 11:30am.

2 Middle School Lab – Physical Science II:  The Force Is With You
6 weeks

Discover how momentum, drag, and friction help create the world we live in.  Students will design and create their own roller coaster and will also identify physical forces involved as they accelerate their own mass through the forest on Treetop Quest.

Class meets on select Wednesdays from 9:30am until 11:30am.
3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29, 4/12  (No class on 4/5)

Middle School Lab – Physical Science I – Power Up
6 weeks

Students will get a charge out of this class as they study basic concepts involving electricity and magnetism.  Student will learn by creating class projects involving circuits, switches, fuses, electromagnets, and even a miniature generator.  Each student will create an original project utilizing the components of a simple circuit.
