The GEHC’s Pre-K program is aligned with the Georgia Pre-K program content standards issued by Bright From the Start for early childhood education. Outdoor experiences are an integral part of each program.
Pre-K programs include 2 hours of instruction and can be customized to fit the school’s needs.
Trees play a vital role in the local forest ecosystem; join us at the GEHC as we explore the trees of our forest. We’ll take a closer look at native trees and learn who lives among their branches, examine the local forest community and many of the creatures big and small who depend on the trees for their survival. This program is taught primarily outdoors and will include digging and mud exploration.
Wild About Weather
Oh say can you say what’s the weather today? Join us on a weather adventure as we explore clouds, storms and sunny days. Your young meteorologists will go on a cloud hike, enjoy educational play, and create a take home craft. The Discover H2O exhibit provides hands on practice in creating clouds and an interactive water cycle for further learning fun.
Georgia Animals In My Backyard
Through hands-on investigation with the GEHC’s skins and skulls collection, students uncover the physical and behavioral differences of local forest friends. Interactive games and a playful visit with the GEHC’s resident turtles help students understand animal needs and appreciate the role they play in protecting our native animal friends.
Museums are magical places full of hidden wonders and adventures into the past. Take a walk through the GEHC museum as we discover some of the hidden elements of the exhibits. Students will enjoy an outdoor adventure where they will learn about native plants, animals, and insects. This program will include the Discover H2O exhibit, a showing of Blue Planet and the temporary exhibit if available.
